Gaderská Valley

🌿 Natural treasure of Central Slovakia

Gaderská Valley is one of the longest and most picturesque valleys in Veľká Fatra. Stretching over 18 kilometers, it guides you through deep forests, rocky slopes, and meadows full of life. As part of Veľká Fatra National Park, it offers visitors a unique experience of a peaceful walk embraced by pristine nature, limestone cliffs, and the murmuring Gader stream. It has preserved its wildness, silence, and balance – you just need to listen.

🌿 Natural attractions

Čertova brána (Devil’s gate) – an iconic rock formation consisting of two cliffs standing close together, with a narrow path running between them. It is the most photographed spot in the valley and has appeared in several films about the legendary outlaw Jánošík.

Mažarná cave – an accessible cave featuring stalactite decorations, sinter pools, and icicles in winter. Bats inhabit the cave, and it is a popular destination for hikers.

Necpaly Valley

Necpaly Valley – The Gateway to Veľká Fatra
Necpaly Valley stretches northeast from the village of Necpaly and forms part of Veľká Fatra National Park. The valley is traversed by the Necpaly Stream, which springs beneath the summit of Ploská (1,532 m a.s.l.) – one of the most well-known peaks in the central part of the range.

Ploská – Veľká Fatra Landmark
Ploská is a broad, grassy peak with a distinctive rounded shape, from which it takes its name. From its summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of the main ridge of Veľká Fatra, the Choč Mountains, and the Low Tatras. In winter, it’s a popular destination for ski mountaineers, while in summer it attracts hikers.

 Chata pod Borišovom (Borišov Hut)
Beneath the neighboring Borišov peak (1,509 m a.s.l.) stands the legendary Chata pod Borišovom (1,310 m a.s.l.), one of the oldest and most famous mountain huts in Slovakia. It’s renowned for its cozy atmosphere and beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The hut is also an important junction of hiking trails crossing Veľká Fatra ridge.

Necpaly Spring
Deep within Veľká Fatra, a pure mountain spring emerges, supplying the Turiec region with high-quality drinking water. It is unique both for its location and composition – combining the untouched beauty of nature with an essential role in the life of the region.

Revúcky Mlyn Waterfall
Another natural treasure of the valley is the Revúcky Mlyn Waterfall. This picturesque waterfall is at its most stunning when the stream carries the most water. Its name, “Revúcky Mlyn” (Revúca Mill), recalls the days when a water mill once stood here, powered by the force of the mountain stream.
